Author Bio

Dr. Karine Blackett's interest in higher education has taken her around the world: She studied at the University of Malta and worked in Kenya, Africa, through her undergraduate degree with the University of Minnesota. She holds an English Language Teaching Certificate from New School University in New York, and she taught English as a second language in Japan. She earned an M.S. from Colorado State University in Student Affairs in Higher Education and her doctorate from the University of South Dakota in Education Administration with an emphasis in higher education.

She has been a practitioner in higher education administration for more than 20 years and a professor and instructor since 1997. She also contributed to the third edition of The Very Quick Job Search. As an instructor, Blackett teaches career development courses online, as well as “Strategies for Success,” which covers the principles and universal laws used by high-performance people and those designing their lives by intent and not by default. She also teaches undergraduate, master's and doctoral classes online for several universities, including: Walden, Kaplan University Online, Virginia College Online, and American Public University System. Blackett is also a certified career and life success coach.

Patricia Weiss earned a B.S. in business administration in 1990 and a B.S. in accounting in 1992. She has been a paraprofessional in library services for 12 years, an experience she has found very rewarding. She also has been an adjunct faculty member at National American University for 12 years. Weiss is a member of the American Library Association and the Mountain Plains Library Association, and is a facilitator for Pacific Institute.

Weiss was an academic coach for four years, has given instruction to hundreds of students in library research, and has facilitated the Strategies for Success class at National American University for the past 12 years.
